Distinct AdvantagesIMI-ct was established with the following unique, strategic advantages in mind. SiteThe site for the hospital is in a new residential development begun in 2004 by the municipality of Can Tho. LocationThe Mekong Delta region is removed from Ho Chi Minh City both by distance and by technology and healthcare standards. IMI-ct has identified needs in training and education, diagnosis and treatment, and facilities, infrastructure and technology development. Our planned solution is to contribute to the Delta’s technological and healthcare development by combining both. Our focus on telecommunications and IT application is supported at this time because the technology is making it possible, and the governments of Vietnam and the municipality of Can Tho are encouraging implementation of just such applications. StatisticsIMI-ct is an important strategic project to eliminate social and healthcare difficulties of the Mekong Delta region. Among a population of twenty million, there is only one doctor for every three thousand patients. Leading Vietnamese hospitals have recently shown that over 15 percent of the population suffers from cardio-vascular diseases, an increase of 6-8 percent from just ten years ago, and nearly 10 percent of the population may require oncology services. PartnershipsIMI-ct’s strength is our relationships with IMI Corp Partners in Houston, Texas, and Affiliates in Vietnam, relations who provide support across the corporate network potentially serving a population of some thirty to forty million Vietnamese. Our idea is the transferring of medical technology from the United States and putting it to practical clinical use in Vietnam LeadershipThe IMI General Hospital of Can Tho has been designed by general and specialist physicians, registered nurses, administrators and medical technology engineers with practical experience in Vietnam and in other countries. These professionals contribute their knowledge and experience to help Vietnam develop its healthcare services beyond the current international standard.
Management at IMI-ct defines clinical and community needs and develops strategies to meet those needs, providing needs assessments in the clinical, educational and administrative areas, assessing infrastructure and human resources, providing education and training, and recommending equipment and telecommunications media and technology, and continuing with ongoing assessment of patient and provider satisfaction, quality, costs and benefits. Policies and ProceduresIMI-ct is experienced and knowledgeable in Vietnam’s unique legal and regulatory infrastructure and specific healthcare laws and regulations, committed to data security and to protect the patients’ privacy rights and the interests of business. Policy issues include reimbursement, along with licensing and liability. Protocols are necessary to ensure effective interaction in teleconsultations. IMI-ct will facilitate the collaboration between healthcare and information technology and telecommunications professionals, along with governmental agencies and policy makers. IMI-ct seeks to reinforce national health structure, facilitate training and education for healthcare professionals, integrating into the national health program and assisting in development of public health information system. |
