affordable is most apparent.
The Hospital has been designed to provide improve
healthcare services for the municipality of Can Tho, as well as the
neighboring provinces of the Mekong Delta, and will serve as a healthcare
model of quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness that can rival any
international standard healthcare center system.
Clinical areas at the General Hospital cover the areas of
- Radiology
- Pathology
- Dermatology
- Oncology
- Cardiology
- Neurology
- Ophthalmology
- Otorhinolaryngology

IMI-ct will serve as a prototype project whose model will
support country-wide expansion, contributing to Vietnam’s technological and
healthcare development by combining both.
Through telemedicine, IMI-ct is the frontrunner in
bringing medical professionals electronically into the underserved
southeastern provinces, places removed from modern developments in technology
and healthcare alike. Telemedicine allows patients to obtain medical
consultation in their own community, lowering costs, reducing patient travel
to secondary or tertiary healthcare centers and overcoming barriers in the
delivery of specialist healthcare, including lack of proper public
transportation, great distances, travel time and expenses, waiting time, and
the lack of trained medical doctors, especially specialists and super
specialists.
IMI-ct has developed a unique model for telemedicine for
Vietnam which will connect doctors and patients at government and private
hospitals and clinics through the digitalization and secure transmission of
medical information like images, video, sound, vitals and text, all
incorporating the various of telemedicine: workstations (hardware & software,
computers and monitors), peripheral devices (digital cameras, scanners,
modems, printers, scopes) telecommunications connections (dial-up, ISDN,
Asynchronous Transfer Modes (ATMs), ADSL, and Frame Relay, the Internet and
VPNs) and videoconferencing systems.
The network connects people at the telemedicine command
centers in Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and Houston) and remote, rural sites,
which send clinical info for review or reporting. In the near future, IMI-ct
will spearhead the change from a center-based system to an Internet-based
distributed medical knowledge and service system. With the IMI-ct
telemedicine system, medical professionals and support staff at the IMI-ct
telemedicine command center will serve the southern half of Vietnam, and
connect to partnering healthcare institutions around the world, offering
provincial Vietnam the highest-standard medical treatment.
We are taking the initiative in the field of medical
informatics, where artificial intelligence, process technology and clinical
experience come together. With data (numerical values) and information
(non-numerical) as inputs, we are intent on delivering truly remote and mobile
treatment, determining the illness and making a diagnosis.
With support of the municipality and neighboring
provinces, IMI-ct will the major source in the Mekong Delta for providing
information and boosting capabilities through continuing education and
training and global outreach involving collaborators, affiliates, and partners
in order to build human resource skills. IMI-ct education services include
curriculum and course development, seminars and symposia, on- and off-site
training and consulting, and multi-media production.
In places where medical need is most pronounced, and lack
of quality or affordability is most apparent, IMI-ct is focused on providing
unique, responsive services and solutions.
